On a monthly basis, you will have to declare the dividends paid in your Nomad Investment Account in Carnê Leão. Dividends from foreign resources are taxed in Brazil in the same month they were received under the monthly payment method known as “Carnê Leão”. You will have to inform the gross amount of the dividends you’ve received in carnê-leão until the last day of the following month. In your Annual Income Tax Return Declaration, you will have to import this data from Carnê Leão and also inform the amount of taxes withheld by the US throughout this period. To sum up in 3 steps:
- Inform the gross amount of the dividends you have received until the last day of the following month in the file “Livro - Caixa / Escrituração” of Carnê Leão.
- Import the data from Carnê Leão to the Annual Income Tax Return of Brazil (Declaração de Imposto de Renda Pessoa Física).
- You will have to inform the amount withheld by the US from your dividends in the “Imposto Pago/Retido” file of the Declaração de Imposto de Renda Pessoa Física.
The “Carnê Leão” Tax Return shall be filed and sent through the software program made available by the Brazilian IRS in the following address: Programa Carnê Leão
